I built my house myself in 2006 and included several custom upgrades and touches, one of which was installing a urinal in a half bathroom. What I didn’t know was there such a thing called urine salts that build up inside the porcelain drain in the same fashion as fat does to clog an artery.
So, I did a Youtube search on how to unstop one and this plumber explained what the normal cause was (urine salt buildup). His simple way of unstopping it without removing the urinal was to easily pour a bottle of Javelin down the drain and waiting. He lets it set for 3-4-hours for a partially clogged drain and 24-hours for a totally clogged one. The specially formulated chemicals dissolve the hard salts into liquid, making the removal of the urinal totally unnecessary.
I thought with my luck it couldn’t be this simple, but it was! Javelin works as advertised and saved me four to five hundred dollars minimum versus calling a plumber–THANK YOU Javelin!

Had a completely clogged urinal. Added this product and I let it sit overnight and came back in the morning and the urinal flushes like new. I was surprised how well it worked.
This product is a must try. We had a urinal in a building that is a historic building in Fairfax VA. The bath rooms are tiled on floors and walls with marble, I tried to snake out the urinal with urinal snake- no luck. And I bent the snake. So we took the urinal off the wall and looked at back of drain, it was full of calcium. A hole of the size of a pencil was what was draining threw. So I took a screw driver and hammer and thought I could chip out calcium enough to drain- no luck. It was so hard I was afraid it was going to break urinal.
My client did not want to install a new urinal because we would have to cut wall to accommodate new brackets and drain line so we went back and I asked if they carried anything that was strong enough to dissolve calcium. They handed me a bottle of this new product called Javelin Urinal Treatment. They told me they had good reviews so I read the directions removed as much water from urinal trap and poured it in.
It started breaking up calcium in about 15 minutes I thought it was pretty cool to watch.
